Schwinn 564 by Angel Edgardo Rodriguez

1989 Schwinn 564. I found this one turned into pieces at a thrift store years ago. Took it for sandblasting and powder coating and refurbished the whole bike. My faithful companion in many rides. December 21, 2010

Let's see some Bicycle pics please!

Ok, my own bicycle is purely a labor of love and I'm in the process of upgrading, but I'll do my best to upload pictures of my utterly slow progress. I hope everyone does the same! Restored, upgraded or falling apart... Let's see your rides!

Classic Schwinn Aluminum Bicycle Group

In the late 80's to early 90's Schwinn decided as a last ditch effort to make an "affordable" high performance racing road bicycle (lower priced alternative to Paramount Elite group). Licensing several patents - welding techniques and frame building ideas from Klein Bicycle Corp(Gary Klein was MIT graduate who was the first to produce a light weight aluminum oversize tubing for bicycle frames) the Schwinn PDG Aluminum was born! PDG (Paramount Design Group) was the high end Schwinn race engineering and design division in charge of those amazing racing frames that made Schwinn and Paramount famous for decades and PDG was put in charge of making designing the glorious valkyries of aluminum and passion (the PDG aluminum bikes), at least to me. Side note (Some of the original Paramount design group are still around today AKA waterford bicycle company - http://waterfordbikes.com and it's still associated with the Schwinn family) Even if the original Schwinn bicycle name is not owned, operated or even associated with the Schwinn family (Schwinn and Paramount name was sold to Dorel an Asian bicycle conglomerate), at least these aluminum speed beasts lives on if only facebook and this blog and some caring owners hands! If you have any of these "cool" and "unique" bicycles please come a share pictures, stories and the "love"!
